Promoting Diversity

Calbee DIVERSITY

Calbee's first step in promoting diversity is providing women with more career opportunities. We have positioned the promotion of diversity as one of our key management agenda. Empowerment of female employees is essential to Calbee's growth. In doing so, we aim to promote the diverse workforce we already possess. The Diversity Committee, established in 2010, is in charge of organizing numerous activities across the country intended to raise awareness of diversity, understand its importance, and put it into practice.

Supporting Career Opportunities for Women

Supporting Career Opportunities for Women

Executive officers and other high ranking officers in Calbee meet four times a year for a management workshop that is also attended by female colleagues holding managerial positions or are candidates for these posts. The workshop is designed to help women to develop a managerial perspective. The different perspectives brought together in these workshops are aimed to fuel innovation.
The workshop also shares targets for promoting female employees.
In addition, our efforts to promote female employees involve the commitment and accountability of our chairman, president, and directors of regional headquarters. Their professed support of these efforts is made known to employees.

Calbee Group's personnel vision (groupwide)

Calbee Group's personnel vision (groupwide)

We are working to step up measures in relation to assessments, remuneration and welfare, with the aim of "continuing to grow independently and produce results, as individuals and as an organization."
We also implement a range of measures to enable employees to think about their own career plans and share their goals with their superiors, so that they can grow and achieve targets for themselves. We have schemes in place such as "position challenge", to enable employees to take on the challenge of departmental and sectional management positions, and "work challenge", to enable employees to request different assignments or departments.

Commitments to Work-Life Balance

Commitments to Work-Life Balance

The Calbee Group uses the phrase work-life balance to promote the importance of a balance between work and personal life.
We have increased and improved the range of systems and support for our employees, such as maternity leave and care leave. These systems enable our employees to balance work and personal life and pursue a career unaffected by different life events.
To optimize working hours, in December 2013 we began to encourage our employees to leave the office early on Wednesdays. Summer Time was also introduced in the summer and our offices and plants started working earlier in the morning, helping to streamline operations and reduce the amount of overtime.
We respect the wishes of each employee in regards to transfers. We will continue to support the growth of the company and its individuals through the support of our HR system designed to cope with trends such as an aging population and declining birthrate.
